Johns Memorial Episcopal Church is composed of people of all age groups from many different religious backgrounds, with diverse interests and styles. What unites us is our faith in God, as revealed through the person of Jesus Christ, and we celebrate this unity through both our worship and our service to the larger community. The Church, founded in 1879, is located on historic High Street across from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Named after the Fourth Bishop of Virginia, John Johns, the parish stands as a living memorial to his pioneering work.
We think we are an exciting, open, welcoming church which serves the community, Longwood University, and Hampden-Sydney College. Education and worship that is relevant and topical to the church year is provided for all ages. The adult choir is exceptional and the youth choir is developing excellent skills.
We are a church where no questions are off limits and doubters are most welcome. The congregation is diverse, inclusive, and welcoming of all people. We are people of deep faith who choose to live generously and without fear.
